Very beautiful and perhaps most sought after Amsterdam etching by Witsen.

Willem Witsen was born in Amsterdam on 13 August 1860 and died there on 13 April 1923.
Education at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam.
Student of August Allebé. Teacher of, among others, Dirk Harting and Willem Hofker.
Besides the Netherlands, he worked in London, Venice, San Francisco and Indonesia.
Was one of the so-called Tachtigers and very friendly with Georg Hendrik Breitner.
Painter, watercolourist and graphic artist. Best known for his Amsterdam cityscapes.
