Rudolf Vombek, February 5, 1930 in Maribor, Kingdom of Yugoslavia, today Slovenia - 2008 in Herdecke was a German painter of the Art Informel. Later he turned to a constructivism similar to Op Art.
Rudolf Vombek studied at the Werkkunstschule Wuppertal. In 1970 he took part in the International Painting Weeks "Example Eisenstadt" in Eisenstadt in Burgenland. In 1982 he took part in the International Sculpture Symposium in St. Margarethen / Austria. Vombek died after a long battle with cancer on the day after the vernissage of his exhibition Vor der Farbe, Märkisches Museum 2008. He was able to receive the catalogue raisonné of his graphic works written by Hartmut Witte the day before. From 1970/71 he had a teaching position at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences. From 1977 to 1984 he was a lecturer at the University of GH Essen.

Rudolf Vombek was a member of the German Artists' Association. As a full DKB member, he took part in a total of eleven major annual exhibitions of the Artists' Association between 1963 and 1980.[1] He was married to Roswitha Lüder since 1957.
