Pie Wilhelmus - "Chateau Neercanne"

Pie Wilhelmus (1926-2003) was a Dutch painter known for his Maastricht themes, such as this depiction of “Chateau Neercanne”. His work was characterized by a strong expression of color and form, finding a balance between figurative and abstract art. Wilhelmus was active during a period when art in the Netherlands was undergoing a transition from traditional to more experimental styles, which also influenced his own development as an artist.
