Miltos Sachtouris (1919-2005), born in Athens, Greece, was one of the most important Greek poets of the post-war period. When he was young, he dropped out of law school to pursue his true passion, poetry, and took the pseudonym Miltos Chrysanthis , under which he wrote his first poem The Music of My Islands in 1941.
He was awarded the Grand State Literature Prize in 2003 for his oeuvre.
His work has been translated and published in several languages, including English, French, German, Russian, Polish, Italian, Spanish and Dutch.
