Lambert Maria WINTERSBERGER - Untitled (Reclining Man)

ZT (Reclining Man) by Lambert Maria Wintersberger 1977, oil on canvas 55x45cm, is one of the works from his spontaneous, gestural painting. The black of the upper half of the painting, applied spontaneously with a large brushstroke, makes the exposed parts of the canvas ground with its own color effect of the canvas appear as a backlight in an indefinite, deep pictorial space, which also seems to be modeled by washes. In the foreground there is a tangle of narrower, loosely and rhythmically flowing brushstrokes with a different color temperature of the fine gray mixtures than in the background. In it a reclining man can be recognized, who was baptized a “Roman fountain figure” by the previous owner.
The painting is in very good condition. Finished with varnish and signed on the back with the artist's full name and the date.
