Jos (Josua Michiel) van den Berg was born on August 10, 1905 in Den Helder and died on November 14, 1978 in The Hague
As a midget, Jos was a striking figure in the Hague art world of the sixties. Jos was therefore always called Josje by his friends from the Posthoorn. Worked and lived in The Hague from 1944 and his studio was located at Sumatrastraat number 40.
Education: Free Academy in Paris, Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam (1919-23) and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague (1929-35). Was a student of Joop Kropff, among others.
In 1964 a design by Josje appeared on a stamp from the PTT summer stamp series. (12+9 ct)
Member of Pulchri Studio and the Posthoorn Group.
Received the Jacob Hartog Prize in 1956.
Work in the Hague Municipal Museum, the Museum of Communication (Postal Museum) in The Hague and in the National Collection.
