Johnny Schuddeboom was born in Rotterdam in 1908. This painter and watercolourist followed a two-year course at the Academy of Amsterdam. He travelled a lot and lived in Antwerp for a long time in a houseboat. He also visited the south of France with his camper. One day, while he was exhibiting in Dinant, one of his walks took him to Vresse-Sur-Semois, which soon became his adopted home. Indeed, for 16 years he lived near Gros-Fays, a village near the neighbouring town of Bièvre, located 6 km east of Vresse. He then moved back to the region of Antwerp where his wife came from and where he died in 1993. He is known for his large semi-abstract compositions, usually starting with water views or flowers. He used a thick paste in a wonderful splendour of colours.
