A painting made by Harmen Kiaas Post.

Harmen Klaas Post (Hallum, 6 July 1907 – Utrecht, 15 February 1995) was a Dutch painter, illustrator and teacher. He was best known for his landscapes, portraits and book illustrations. During his career he developed a broad style, varying from cubist-expressionist to quiet realism.

Harmen Post left at the age of twenty - after training in painting at the trade school - to The Hague to study at the Academy of Fine Arts. Here he specialized in stage decoration, which later earned him work as a set designer for revue and operetta companies. Despite his success in this sector, Post eventually decided to focus on a career as an advertising designer and later as a painter.
Post was a great nature lover, a theme that often returned in his work. He painted landscapes on Texel, villages along the Lek, and various locations in Germany. In addition to painting, he illustrated books, magazines and newspapers.
Although Post exhibited little during his lifetime, he was admired by former students and fellow artists. He was known to refuse commissions when clients tried to exert too much influence on the creative process.
