Gerardus Hordijk (1899 - 1958) was a Dutch graphic artist, illustrator, monumental artist (set painter), muralist and painter. In Gerard Hordijk, een Kleurrijk leven Gieling uses Hordijk's archive and other sources to reconstruct the life of the painter, who was immensely popular before the war but was forgotten afterwards. In the archive the author also found letters from Piet Mondriaan, with whom Hordijk had been friends since their years together in Paris.
