However, the 80 plates of the "Disasters" were not published for the first time until 1863, after the Real Academia had purchased the plates from Goya. After the death of his son Xavier, they were sold individually by his grandson from 1854. Sheet No. 8: Goya's masterful line work in the graphic representation of this scene. The engraving shows the fall of a cuirassier and his horse during the Spanish Civil War.
