Ernst Juch Austrian, 1838 - 1909
Ernst Juch was an Austrian painter, draftsman, sculptor, illustrator and caricaturist.
Orphaned at the age of two, Ernst Juch became a student of the court sculptor Eduard Wolfgang (1825–1874), worked as a modeller in the Plaue porcelain factory in Thuringia from 1857 and worked as a sculptor from 1858 in Passau and from 1859 in Vienna. He modeled bronze figures.
Juch also began to supply drawings of political satires and caricatures to the magazines "Reibeisen", "Grader Michel" and, since 1867, "Figaro".
In 1879 he became a member of the artist group “Die Anzengrube” (Ludwig Anzengruber, Rudolf von Alt, Rudolf Hawel, Ludwig Martinelli, Vinzenz Chiavacci and others). In 1883 he became a member of the cooperative of visual artists "Künstlerhaus Wien".
In addition to his main occupation as a press draftsman, he also painted oil paintings and designed small sculptures.
Juch drew caricatures on the postcards introduced in Austria in 1869 and sent them to his friends.
In 1892 he illustrated the book by J. Berndl "Allerlei Weisen und Märlein".
