Rien GOENE (Utrecht, 1929)
Education at the Artibus academy in Utrecht.
Here Rien Goené chose "monumental design" in addition to free painting. His mostly abstract art is constantly subject to change. Yet each new work is clearly his own and often characterized by Cobra-like playful colorful vitality on the one hand and form discipline on the other. Pursuing strength in line and movement, Goen_ must fight his anarchist vitality with an iron fist.
He finds his inspiration in current events and in nature. He applies the form solutions he finds here in his sculptures. Like many modern sculptors, he is not satisfied with an exact representation of the observed. By far the most important property that an image must possess, according to Goen_, is the ability to evoke something in the viewer.
