Henri Verstijnen (1882-1940)

Henri Verstijnen was born in Java in 1882 and went to the Netherlands with his parents in 1892. Took drawing lessons at the Akademie in Arnhem and from an early age devoted himself to depicting the animal world. In 1918 Verstijnen moved to The Hague and through the Haagse Kunstkring and Pulchri Studio mainly exhibited works of flowers, birds and exotic animals in their natural environment. He died in 1940 in The Hague.
